So where's the snow?

Muddling through in Austria; God, life and a small black dog

Spring – backwards and forwards

I’m calling this a yo-yo spring. I celebrated winter’s end too soon! On Monday, I just had put the washing out in the warm sunshine and down the valley came a storm which lashed through and it rained on and off for the rest of the day.  It then snowed, heavy wet snow and rain all night.

Yesterday, in warm sunshine, Linda and I were sweating as we planted pansies in the graveyard in readiness for Easter. This was after we had woken to a covering of snow that had melted by lunchtime. By the time I had walked the dog, it was raining again.

This morning we woke to about 5cm of fresh wet snow. Looks like we put the shovels away too quickly. Interesting that a local guy had said that morning that he had seen an ermine still in its winter white,  a sure sign that the spring will be late. Of course, Easter is quite early this year, but it seems the old Lungau adage  is right, Green Christmas, White Easter, and maybe April will come in like a lion but leave like a lamb!
