An afternoon’s walk.
St Margarethen again!
I went back recently to see how the water protection works have gone on, and was relieved to find the works finished.
The bear trap wooden sticks have been mostly backfilled to redirect the stream.
Most odd sort of sculpture at the end, death of a hut?
There was rain all around me. I was watching it coming over Aineck.
I only just made it back before it hit.
Swingle didn’t care!
St Margarethen again!
My favourite walk in Lungau and only a few days clear of snow. We’ve a little heatwave this weekend, so we did lots of work in the garden starting my new flower bed and putting the seats out.
Then Swingle and I sneaked off! The fields are still brown and the farmers have come out of the barns to spread everywhere possible with slurry, so it was a smelly walk!
There are big flood protection works going on much to my disgust but just by the bridge. More islands in the Mur. Thankfully, the rest of the track was undisturbed.
The last weekend of skiing at Aineck, I could see the lower lift was stopped, the upper not, most odd. I expect the snow was slush, it was +17!!
Best of all was the birds. I heard swallows, black redstarts, water blackbirds, Fieldfares. Spring at last!
As I strode along I realised how winter and snow has a sort of paralyzing effect. I have no desire to march and my body feels heavier, now I feel lightfooted. Maybe a sort of winter half hibernation? All over now, roll on summer!
