A cool June

IMG_1592

Near St Margarethen

This June has been at times rather on the cool, cloudy side, and there’s been snow over 2000m.

Poor cows, just been shipped up there and this happens!

But to me, its a joy, I just love walking in the coolness, and some of the hay fields are still uncut, so there’s a wealth of flowers.

Cows, St Margarethen – well you knew I’d be snapping them sooner or later!

Along side the Mur is my favourite bit, I suppose it comes from my childhood and happy times in the Winchester water meadows.

My lane, June 6th

This year, the hay is being cut a bit earlier after a very wet May and now a heatwave!
P1300114The rain seems to have brought more of the wild flowers out too.

Hay in windrows ready to be picked up.

The Ash is out, dropping blossoms like snow on the path, ash before oak we’re in for a soak, oak before ash we’re in for a splash, shame there’s only about two oaks in the Lungau….

P1300127

Those darn caterlpillars again, there’s more skeleton trees around the valley than last year.

P1300132

Hay collected loose and then stored in the barn.

Over exposed I know, but I lied the shadows!

June, bugs and blooms

P1270305

June seems the time that the bugs appear and feast on the new pollen in the flowers. Of course, being the Lungau, we get the May bugs in June and the June bugs in July!

P1270467

There’s been some quite spectacular beetles this year. mostly on the flower heads.P1270436  The bees have been frantically unzipping the snap dragons!
