The cows and the sheep were all down two weeks early this year due to the cold weather and the snow on the tops. After a few days things warmed up and as Swingle and I went for a walk in the nearby fields, they all seemed to be enjoying the sun and being stuffed on the rich low grass! A couple of days later there was a surprise in one of the fields!

Cold winter coming?
September 21st
We have had autumn since the beginning of the month. It’s been really cold, although no frosts yet. The cows have all come down two weeks early, but there is plenty of grass for them.
It reminds me of 2007 when we had this but more extreme and cows and horses on the alms had to have hay helicoptered in and some died. Not so bad this year, but 2007 had loads of snow and it was a white Christmas!!
Two for trouble!
The white stripe makes his bullock’s nose look crooked, but it isn’t! The other has a heraldic shield!
